Course introduction

Course objective: To learn about terrorism and insurance.

Terrorism. This is a subject that has weighed heavy on our minds in recent times. Members of our society are likely to experience future losses due to terrorist events. Many years of litigation will ensue to determine proper interpretation of both policy exclusions and specialty coverages.

A long-term solution from the insurance industry is not yet at hand, and may never come. In the short term, the federal government has assigned tax dollars to aid those in need with certain federal stipulations of coverage and recoupment.

In this course, you will learn about terrorism and insurance through the following topics:
  • Terrorism categories
  • Terrorism targets
  • Terrorism consequences
  • Terrorism and insurance: pre 9/11
  • Terrorism Risk Insurance Act
  • Errors and omissions advice
